It was a spectacular display, with a sea of red, white and black as the Campbelltown City Bowl Junior and Youth squad took to the lanes in the NSW State Championships on the weekend. The squad of 21 made their presence known throughout the squads, not only with the cheers from parents spectating, but also with their performance on the lanes. In the Double event, Sam Blake and Joshua Logozzo proved they have the makings of future champions, when they achieved a new State record in C Grade Doubles, with a very nice 1069 series, beating the previous record by over 100 pins. Youth bowler, Joshua Stephen qualified 4th for his very first Masters event. Making beautiful shots all day and scoring above his average he made a great entrance to the tournament scene. The singles event was Brandon Wilshaw's time to shine with an almost perfect game, throwing a very nice 289 game. Sam Blake who entered with a league average of 143 also bowled a nice game of 245 in the singles event, giving him a tournament average of 195! A special mention also goes out to Joshua Logozzo, who recently made the move from our bumper league to Juniors. He made his tournament debut this weekend and showed to the rest of the state that he has the makings of a true champion. With an entering average of 104 and his 10 pound ball he took on D Grade. After the first weekend of qualifying, he is currently the first qualifier for the Boy's restricted masters with a massive 706 series with handicap! His qualifying scores were 160, 147 and 168!!! Combined with his singles and doubles events, Josh finished with a tournament average of 134, 30 pins above average! It was scores like this that lead to a record breaking double score, with team mate Sam Blake and his scores of 218, 171 and 205. The day ended with the teams event. 9 games straight in one day is a tiring day for even seasoned tournament bowlers, but our junior group showed they have what it takes. Again it was Sam Blake and Joshua Logozzo, joined by twin team mates Sean and Mark Harter. The C grade team rolled a very nice 1805 team series not only breaking the previous state record, but absolutely OBLITERATING it by 400 pins! We are very proud of the efforts by our Junior and Youth squad this weekend and wish them all the very best over the next two weekend in their respective Masters finals.

Congratulations to the Campbelltown Seniors contingent at the NSW State Championships held in Warners Bay on the weekend. It was a battle of greeks in the Mens Senior Masters with the top two play off between defending champion Steve Lenton and Jim Bakirtzidis. In the first game it looked like Lenton was going to successfully defend his title, but Jimbo made a dash for the finish in the final game overtaking Lenton and ensuring the tournament win! Greek fans every where in the crowd could be seen cheering and attempting the Zorba! Noelle Bakirtzidis made the 2016 NSW Senior Masters a love affair when she secured the Champions trophy in the ladies division, joining her husband on the podium as this year 2016 NSW Senior Masters Champions! We are incredibly proud of you all here at Campbelltown City Bowl, well done on the weekend! When the bar opens... a round of Ouzo is on the house to celebrate your victories!
