I love the twisted, gnarled boabs which I often see on my travels through the Kimberley area. The more unusual they are, the more enjoyment I get out of painting them. The title of this one is 'Ancient Whisperings'. Painted in watercolour, it contains 14ct of rough diamonds, and is embellished with gold and copper leaf. Some of you might remember, about 8 years ago, a boab tree was taken out of Kununurra on a great big truck and was planted at Kings Park in Perth. This is the tree that now stands proud in Kings park overlooking the ocean. I have called this painting 'Uprooted'. The bird is a black cockatoo. I wonder if there is anyone who once lived in Kununurra who now lives in Perth, who also feels as if they were uprooted, and miss their home in the Kimberley? Perhaps this painting would make a very thoughtful gift for someone? It has gold leaf and 3.3ct of rough diamonds on it and the price is $2290. Click on pic for the full painting. It amazes me every day to see the diverse shapes of the magnificent boab trees. Some are short and rounded, others are tall and skinny. All are beautiful and unique. The flower is from the boab tree.
