Scubathlon
Description
Scuba Diving Centre Hi, my name is Della Ross. I am a RAID Instructor Trainer, PADI Staff Instructor and SSI Dive Control Specialist Instructor who is passionate about teaching and diving. I place huge emphasis on safety and quality of teaching. Why to create a new club or school when there are a lot of them already? What promise can I give that will make our club different?
I promise to listen. I promise to address and to help you combat your personal fears. I promise to give it my all, even if it means that we will have to dive 10 days instead of customary 2. I promise to never be indifferent. I do not believe in cutting corners and making a quick buck.
Many words can be said but they are just that - words. Those who know me in diving and in life will trust me. What we are starting here is a new direction in diving - Scubathlon. We will try to start Scuba Master games in Australia where Master Divers will train and compete in obstacle course, doing all advanced skills that make a diver the Master and not a plastic card collector. We will present new courses and will enjoy teaching our old favourites. We will be teaching RAID, PADI and SSI courses but we will try to give more, go beyond bare standards to make you safer and better divers. I promise that our students will learn open water skills while in neutral buoyancy. They will learn about trim and effective and environmentally safe propulsion techniques. I promise to make our club dives educational and always personal. This club and this school will be for us, normal people who strive for new heights in depths. You are welcome!

AS we do every year we plan to do an Escape from Captivity model of our Close Protection Diver Course curriculum. The event will be announced soon but for now this is to refresh your memory and tell that this year it will be more complex and interesting. Who is an Escapee? Who is a surface support (guards) - the duty is to "search the sea" by using lights? Please, let us know. But nothing is going to be as difficult and scary as being an escapee, though. Bring some old clothes in which you will go underwater. This module is planned for mid-February.

Open Water Course
Why we chose ‘Dare to be the Best‘ as our motto? Because unlike the vast majority of scuba schools we train our students to master neutral buoyancy skills starting from the pool session. Our students never kneel down (as you have probably seen in videos or movies). Buoyancy skills are the most important for any diver, especially for beginners. That is why we teach new students to dive in proper trim (position), with their arms folded and using the “frog” propulsion technique. Our students learn new skills being neutrally buoyant. Yes, there is more work involved but we do not cut corners in divers’ training so they complete our course being safe and confident divers and do not need to re-learn these skills later. Proper buoyancy and propulsion skills are extremely important not only for divers’ safety but also for our fragile marine environment. Our students get proper techniques and understanding of what they need to strive for and, trust us, they will be proud of their training and we are always proud of our students who become confident and skilled divers.
Instructor Courses
Instructor courses are always so intense and somewhat stressful but what a feeling when they are completed and exams are passed with flying colours! Plenty of work but also lots of fun, new knowledge and skills, new opportunities or just a huge sense of accomplishment.
