Bob Irwin Wildlife & Conservation Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit conservation foundation dedicated to the preservation of wildlife and its habitat. Founded in July 2012, Bob Irwin Wildlife & Conservation Foundation Inc. is the next chapter in Bob Irwin’s life-long commitment to the environment. There is no more recognised name in the history of conservation and the protection of wildlife in Australia than Irwin, and Bob Irwin Wildlife & Conservation Foundation Inc. seeks to build upon, expand and secure the legacy started by Bob and his son Steve.

Bob Irwin Wildlife & Conservation Foundation Inc. (an incorporated association) is a not-for-profit conservation foundation dedicated to the preservation of wildlife and its habitat for the benefit of current and future generations.

The focus of Bob Irwin Wildlife & Conservation Foundation Inc is in three key areas:

1. EDUCATION
Community education regarding Australia’s unique wildlife and habitats, the value and importance of protection, and the sharing of protective practices that can be applied at home, in your neighbourhood, your school and suburb;
Education is two-way, and working with Indigenous communities around Australia, the Foundation seeks to learn and to share information with the aim of encouraging and assisting their involvement in the conservation of wildlife in Australia;
Provision of financial scholarships/bursaries to encourage young Australians to develop a career in the area of wildlife and habitat protection.

2. SUPPORT
Providing direct financial support to grassroots organisations active in rescuing and rehabilitating, protecting and researching our wildlife, where such organisations are making a tangible, meaningful and measurable difference;
Assisting grassroots wildlife protection projects and organisations in obtaining funding from other sources, raising their profile and support from their immediate communities;
Adding our voice to debate, to grassroots campaigns and supporting communities to live more sustainably within our unique environment, in Australia and around the world.
3. ADVOCACY
Lobbying governments and government agencies at all levels to ensure that the protection of Australia’s wildlife is a key tenet of government decision making;
Providing political support to communities advocating for the preservation of threatened wildlife and at risk habitat;
Partnering with corporations to assist them develop management practices that will ensure the sustainable use of habitat resources and the protection of wildlife.
We hope to motivate and encourage like-minded people and corporations to join us in this mission, so that together we may make a difference and arrest the decline in our native wildlife and its habitats, for the sake of our children, their children and generations to come.

We are dedicated to building our Foundation with honesty and integrity, and look forward to sharing the journey with you.

Good on you Eco Barge CleanSeas for another successful clean up. Not many Australians would be aware that our stunning and iconic Whitsunday Islands are impacted so heavily with marine debris. Thanks to Libby Edge and her wonderful team of hardworking volunteers for taking on this issue headfirst and dedicating their lives to cleaning up our oceans. It truly is inspirational work! If you happen to be in the vicinity of Airlie Beach, you can join Libby and her team on a clean up and contribute to their wonderful work, research and awareness of this terrible issue. We are sad to hear of the passing of little Monty, a Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo joey Bob has had the pleasure of observing recently in the care of Margit Cianelli on the Atherton Tablelands. Bob says it was a one-of-a-kind situation for Margit to have observed- Monty was the wild joey of a rehabilitated and released Tree Kangaroo called Kimberley whom Bob watched grow from a tiny orphaned joey. Kimberley was bringing her joey Monty home to Margit daily in what became a very unique relationship of co-parenting to watch unfold. It gave Margit some wonderful insight into the wild behaviour of Tree Kangaroo parenting and behaviour which is very unknown. We know how much care and effort Margit put in to assisting Kimberley learn how to mother Monty. We are deeply saddened to hear of his passing but would like to thank Margit for her ongoing work with these incredible animals.

INSPIRATION OVERLOAD: A Lifetime in Conservation (well, two!). It was an exciting encounter for many of us to see two conservation legends come together for the first time recently on the Sunshine Coast. Both now in their 70’s with a lot in common, Bob Irwin and Mary Hutton share their thoughts on dedicating their lifetime to the cause and working with your passion in this gorgeous little reflective chat. Bob says he’d been waiting for the opportunity to shake Mary’s hand for a long time. **Mary Hutton is an outstanding Perth Grandmother who founded Free the Bears Fund almost 22 years ago. Since this time, the organisation has rescued over 900 bears from the illegal wildlife trade. Mary was on the coast recently receiving an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the Sunshine Coast for her work in conservation. For more information on their incredible work visit www.freethebears.org Thanks to Houndstooth Studio by Alex Cearns, Free the Bears, University of the Sunshine Coastand Wildlife HQ for making this happen.

Bob reminds us constantly that every creature, great or small, is vitally important to our environment. A look back at Bob speaking from the banks of the Alice River in Cape York on our team's annual Croc Camp field trip talking about his beloved little Delicate Mouse spotted one evening in the bush. With a busy schedule of book events rolled out this year, our passionate wildlife team have certainly missed the chance to venture out into the remote Australian bush with Bob and cannot wait for the next time we can all come together to explore the world around us once again. There's nothing like sharing your passion with other likeminded wildlife enthusiasts! Thanks Bob for being the catalyst for many of us to do just that and igniting a fire in our bellies for wildlife and conservation.

Warning: Cuteness overload in these pictures! Bob would like to say a massive thank you to the team at Wildlife HQ for their invitation to join in their third birthday celebrations yesterday. It was a wonderful day celebrating wildlife and conservation and raised money for the outstanding Australian bear rescue organisation Free the Bears Fund. Bob says the highlight was the chance to meet baby Beau the koala joey who as you can see from these pictures is cute-as-a-button. We will be posting a video soon of Bob together with Free the Bears founder Mary Hutton talking all things conservation and a lifetime of working for your passion.
