It was encouraging this week to read about the Deakin University study in which participants with depression were fed a Mediterranean diet. Around 30% of participants noted an improvement in their moods, emotional and physical wellbeing.. They also linked the importance of gut health to mental health - exciting news for those of us who have been working this way with clients. Again, we are what we eat.
After a well deserved break, I am back and feeling excited about the year and continuing to learn and grow as a practitioner, providing quality and individual care and support to clients. My passion is wholistic care.. This means treating the whole person, not the condition as every state of imbalance has a much bigger picture and one that we an explore, particularly for those of you who truly desire to become well and empower yourselves. This can feel scary at different times of your care plan but you will be supported (not enabled). I will continue with my Bowen Therapy, Mind Body Bowen Therapy and Remedial Bodywork. I also have a passion for small dose herbal treatments which do not bandaid symptoms but support tissue balance and of course will continue to provide spiritual support and energetic work to those who feel drawn to this work. Work hours are Tues 11 til 8pm, Thursday 11 til 3.30 and the last Saturday of the month.. Bookings via Sirius Therapies or feel free to contact me on 0433940870. Thank you

Completion of our first, fully funded women's program. Has inspired me and I've learned so much. It is my hope that gathering places for both women and men will become embedded in our culture and start to heal the sickness we see both in our communities and our land as it is all interconnected. At Sirius we hold a space for you to create what you wish for and support the process of healing from within. My new women's program will be running quarterly - combining connection to self., women's circles, traditional teachings and connection to seasons. Info will be up on website next week - beginning early October.

Reading an incredible book titled "Trauma Trails, recreating song lines" which is teaching me a little of indigenous ways of connecting with deep emotions and the damage caused by suppression of feelings. I'll quote from this book "The word punyu from the language of the Ngaringman from the Northern Territory sometimes translated as well-being, explains the concept and functions. Punya encompasses person and country and is associated with being: Strong Happy Knowledgeable Socially responsible (to take care) Beautiful Clean Safe" So much knowledge and wisdom that has been around for thousands of years that we are now on the very tip of discovering. Wellbeing is as essential as the air we breathe.

I have run a Thursday night meditation class for around 10 year both here and in Canada. This Thursday night will be my last class. I'd like to thank everyone who has come along and become part of a big family. You've all taught me a lot and these experiences have helped shape the woman I am becoming. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

This Thursday nights meditation will be happening on the land.. You may be well aware that there has been a large pollution spill in out nearby parklands as a result of the horrific smash yesterday. I call you as custodians of the land to step in and hold a healing and connection space on the land. Leaving Sirius at 7 pm on Thursday night - read that clearly - we will work together with our ancestors as carers and custodians. If you have something you need to bring to the land - trust it and work with it - the land thanks you. It's time to step up X

This morning on my walk I had a conversation with two cockatoos.. They showed me how important this time of year is in regards to gathering food and filling ourselves with nourishment. It's harvest time and what we take in now will see us through the coming winter months.. Are you feeding yourself and sustaining yourself? Not only do we provide services to support your wellbeing (Bowen Therapy, massage, reiki, yoga, Pilates, meditation, women's circles and upcoming men's group) but also herbal tinctures, quality supplements and advice around food and nutrition to support you. Deeper than that is the message of taking time for yourself and honouring what is important. For more info see Sirius Therapies website.

It struck me yesterday whilst I was swanning around like the queen yesterday how vital it is for women to consistently take time for ourselves. Mothers Day can be a reminder to women and the families and communities they tend to, to honour the intense and consistent role of Mothering.. Often the ones we don't mother are ourselves. Finding time to nourish our needs is vital to supporting the needs of our communities. At Sirius Therapies we are hosting Monthly Retreats to provide this space in the hope that women will see their value and begin to care for themselves in a more sustainable way. For more information on how we support community see our website www.siriustherapies.net
