Description
Offering unique home grown and sustainably harvested produce from the backyard and Tasmanian bushland. Food and produce from the Tasmanian bushland and backyards of Hobart’s urban fringes. Backyard and Bush embraces a back to basics approach, functioning with the belief that we can provide for ourselves using the abundant resources we have in our own backyards and with the knowledge that the bush food in Tasmania is more abundant and diverse than many would believe.
Backyard and Bush is currently in its “seedling” stage. We initially aim to provide quality fruit and vegetable produce from our home as well as judiciously and sustainably harvested edible produce from our natural environment.

Clever Em, grew these Jerusalem Artichokes from peelings. Handy tip: Peel coarsely your bought artichokes and plant the peelings, and you will never have to buy them again.

Sour dough bread starts with an innoculum of wild yeast. The resultant "starter" can live on beyond myself. It may sound like hipster food wank, but I figure that the culture that will give us this and hopefully many loaves to come will be seeded by wild yeasts in the forests of Mt Wellington. Perfect warm drizzly day!

Long time, and many harvests since B&B has posted. Peas have produced their last pod. Raspberries still have a few weeks in them and pulling pinkeyes :-)
