BIG V WEEKEND WRAP In Big V Basketball action this weekend, our Victorian Youth Championship Women put together a solid weekend of 2 wins, our Youth Men kept their in-form period rolling, whilst our State Championship Men and Women had results that they’ll spend the week kicking themselves about. Channeled the right way, you wouldn’t want to be the team that plays either of them this week ! Now, to the weekend’s goings on : Victorian Youth Championship Women : Diamond Valley def. This game could shift the balance of the playoff picture – so it’s sure to be a hotly contested match up at the Valley ! Our Victorian Youth Women play beforehand at 6:30pm, also against the Boomers, then our Youth Men rock the Valley at 2pm on Sunday.

NEWTON TO MAKE HER AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS DEBUT This weekend marks the moment that Yarrambat Phantoms athlete and Diamond Valley Eagle, Gabby Newton makes her Vic Metro debut at the U16 Australian Junior Championships in Kilsyth. A member of our U16 1s Eagles, Newton was part of the team that took home bronze at the recent National Junior Classic and can often be seen at Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre working on her game alone, with a coach or with other Eagles players that help to push her to become the best that she can be. REMINDER : MAN TO MAN DEFENSE CLINIC WITH ROSS WIGNELL The DVBA are continuing to encourage coaches, especially in our younger age groups, to coach their teams to play man-to-man defence. Diamond Valley Basketball Association will be holding three Coaching Clinics on Man-to-Man Defence at the beginning of next term. All Junior Domestic Coaches are welcome to attend these clinics, however it is compulsory for coaches of U08, U10 and U12 teams to at least be present at one. Coaches of these age-groups must attend in order to coach for their domestic club at Diamond Valley, in the Spring 2016 season. Coaches will be given the opportunity to attend one of the three clinics below: Monday 11th July 7:30 – 9:00pm Greenhills Primary School Mine Street, Greensborough Tuesday 19th July 7:30 – 9:00pm Community Bank Stadium- Court 3 Main Hurstbridge Road, Diamond Creek Wednesday 27th July 7:00– 8:30pm Greensborough Secondary College Nell St, Greensborough All coaches must register for the clinic they will be attending.
