Lyn Coleman Registered Marriage Celebrant
Description
I’m good with people. Diverse people = diverse weddings! I support social, gender, disability and cultural inclusion. Love wearing a good costume too! I’m good with people. Diverse people.
I particularly love doing weddings and ceremonies that celebrate people with disabilities, multi-culturalism and older persons.
I can’t wait for Same-Sex marriage to be legalised in Australia!
I'm excited by themed weddings, costumes, dress-ups and unusual locations!
I’m good with kids too and can happily craft a ceremony with rituals to join a blended family!
So, if you’d like a ceremony that is personalised, stress free, relaxed, uplifting, happy, fun, intimate and exciting - and performed by a Registered Celebrant who is organised, respectful, professional, easy to talk to, helpful, guiding, accommodating, friendly, with genuine warmth and humour…then read on!
First things first…If you’re getting married, Australian law says you must :
- not be married to someone else;
- not be marrying a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister;
- be at least eighteen years old, unless a court has approved a marriage where one party is aged between sixteen and eighteen years old;
- understand what marriage means and freely consent to becoming husband and wife;
- use specific words during the ceremony (this is where your celebrant will use the correct legal wording);
- give written notice of your intention to marry to your authorised celebrant, within the required time frame (which is generally not less than 1 month prior to the wedding date and not longer than 18 months before the wedding date ... but there are limited exceptions to this.).
Once you’ve decided to get married, or have a Commitment Ceremony, and there is nothing holding you and your partner back, then you might want to check out a number of celebrants to find the right ‘fit’ for you both. Telephoning and speaking with a few celebrants can help give you an idea of who you both might feel most comfortable with.
So am I the right celebrant for you? :
I write and perform beautiful ceremonies. All this has been shaped by my experiences as a qualified high school teacher, 15 years as an arts industry worker (theatre director, performer, writer and tutor), and as a lawyer and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
If you’re ready to see me as your potential celebrant, then these are the things you will need to bring to our first meeting :
- A copy of your birth certificate or Passport (if you don’t have either of these that’s OK, there are other ways to help establish who you are!).
- Photo ID such as a driver’s licence or Proof of Age card.
- Any ideas you have about the kind of ceremony you and your partner would like, which will help me to shape your unique and wonderful occasion.
