On the same day as the dramatic incident that seen Matthew Springer heroically rescue his mate Stewey Salter from a fiery wreck there were a couple of other incidents that whilst nowhere near as big as that one they were fairly dramatic, one was John Douglas who arrived at the end of the main straight at full noise in his turbo charged FJ Sports Sedan only to have the pin fall out of the brake rod, the result was a huge off and the car impacted the armco at full tilt, nasty but thankfully John was ok. The other incident was this one, coming through the shute at race pace the S Model grenaded it's engine and oil immediately covered the track surface, it resulted in the two cars following, John Routley in the Chev and Richard Gibbs in the Mini doing a three car pirouette down the road ending up as pictured but not before Richards Mini literally stood on it's nose luckily falling down feet first, the driver's can be seen scrambling to a safe spot behind the fence.

John Parr pictured with his Elfin 700 F2 many a year ago (Symmons Plains ??). John punted this car extremely quickly and set some pretty nifty times at our local circuits. No doubt other HRCCT members would like to wish John 'Happy Birthday' for today...
