Last week Dr Kathy and the aunties had an unusual visit from this fuzzy little one. Isn't he just the cutest? We certainly thought so!

This cheeky cockatiel got herself roped up in a bad situation! The owners of this feathered friend brought her in for an annual health check 2 weeks ago. Dr Kathy discovered that she had eaten a part of a rope toy that was her Christmas present. It was just a very lucky coincidence that she came in for her check up before she became sick. Dr Kathy knew she had to act quickly to retrieve the rope toy from her crop. She has since recovered beautifully after her operation and receiving some tender loving care from her owners. It is very important to make sure your bird has nothing "string like" in their cage to avoid a situation like this. Fluffy toys and rope toys can be very dangerous. Dr Kathy and the team are very pleased with such a happy outcome for this sweet little girl.

Here's a dramatic Before & After of a star patient from today. Remember, a birds beak is often a sign of their general health and a healthy bird should never need a beak trim, so if there's anything amiss with your feathered friends' face, give us a call and make an appointment for a health check. Not only did this little one get a fabulous facelift, but her human is also armed with a plan of action to treat the underlying health conditions that led to the overgrown beak. It will take some time, but we're confident they can manage it together!

Remember this little cutie who had a broken leg? He's splint-free and doing very well now!

The sweet baby came in for his first recheck today and is doing very well. He somehow managed to break his little leg a week ago, so he met Dr Kathy and she gave him a feather-matching splint to get everything back on the right track. His humans (big and small) are taking good care of him while he heals and he's making fantastic progress. See you next week, little man! <3

A member of the public called us today after it was discovered that a family of Rosellas had nested in her roof insulation! Mum & Dad weren't there when the nest was found, but these sweet babies were. They're now with a carer to be hand-raised, as the roof had to be re-wired and re-insulated. No doubt being missed by Mum & Dad, but at least they're safe! Good luck, little ones. <3

We had this little cutie in for his first health check today. We don't know how a 39g baby can steal your heart, but he certainly does!

Aunty Ky has welcomed two new members into her family; Barney & Fred, the baby budgies. Both boys are enjoying their new surroundings and exploring the world around them - Fred particularly likes momma glasses! Doctor Kathy has been a wonderful help/soundingboard throughout the adoption process <3
