This is one of the many reasons we ask our clients to keep their dogs up to date on vaccines between visits. Parvo virus is a deadly virus that can live in the soil for up to 10 years. With new areas being built on this virus is building up again and becoming a huge issue. Parvo is exceptionally deadly to young dogs but can also kill your adult pets. It can be carried on shoes in the dirt or on clothing or car wheels. The only defence is vaccination every 12 months. We have to work together to make sure all our dogs are vaccinated so there is no threat from dog to dog in our salon. As of 2017 we will be asking for vaccination certificates on first visit and will require updates annually. This is for the protection of your own, our own and our other clients beloved family members. If your pet is lethargic, has blood in stools, is drooling, dehydrated etc please see your vet immediately. There have been recent outbreaks in Adelaide Victoria and Sydney's western suburbs.

Bringing your dog in for regular grooming will avoid this happening. Yes this does happen. And yes we as groomers are faced with having to make this dog look perfect and avoid getting ourselves bitten in the mean time. Dogs react like this to drying, to scissors, to brushes, to all sorts of sights and sounds in grooming. Bringing your dog in just for a bath will stop them from reacting terrified. And yes this dog at 10+ years will have no other option but a $150+ sedation and clip at the vet which puts its heart at risk. Grooming for this dog in its older years is too dangerous for everyone involved. A simple bath starts at $30 includes nail trimming and will have your dog much more relaxed and trusting of your groomer.

In celebration of our new changes prior to the summer season we are going to take some time to introduce some of our luxury extras and packages. Today's focus is on our Deshedding Treatment! Breeds that require the de-shedding treatments are those with double coats and those that shed a lot. Those include but aren't limited to; - Border Collies, Golden Retrievers, Pugs, Labradors, Newfoundlands and so on. In our usual service bath & dry or tidy of these breeds we offer the following services as standard; warm bath, standard purifying shampoo, blow out and blow dry, nail trim, brush out knots (standard 10-15 minutes). When the dog is dropping its coat and losing loose hair the Deshedding treatment is offered as an extra service for an additional fee. This includes; Hydrobath and massage with rubber mitt, Deshedding shampoo to open hair follicle, charcoal conditioner to soften and loosen coat, blow out before the bath to loosen coat and save on drying time, blow dry (second blow out), minimum one hour combing/Deshedding/coat raking depending on hair type. This is all offered in addition to the above standard service. Another optional extra which works perfectly with our Deshedding treatment is the "charcoal scrub" which features in one of the below photos and in our feature videos. It exfoliates the coat and releases hair from the blocked follicles. It's softens the coat and removes dirt from the hair follicle. Helping to release coat one step further.
