Diamond Creek Basketball Club
Description
Diamond Creek Basketball is a volunteer run Junior basketball club for boys and girls ranging from 6 yrs (under 8's) up to 20 yrs (20's & under). Diamond Creek Basketball Club (Creekers) has a highly successful history. Being one of the founding and largest clubs participating in the Diamond Valley Basketball Association the Creekers have been providing the opportunity for the youth of Diamond Creek to participate in this great sport for more than thirty years.
Located in the heart of Diamond Creek and operating out of the Diamond Creek Community Centre (YMCA), the Creekers currently consist of over 35 boys and girls teams (250+ members) aged between under 8 and 18. Run entirely by a committee of elected volunteers, the Creekers are focused on a number of core values. Whilst participation and fun is how we measure our success, the Creekers also believe that all participants should be provided the opportunity to participate at the highest level a player aspires to.
The Creekers is a club for people who love basketball and want to wear the Creekers uniform with pride. The club has a proud record of success in winning grand finals in the Diamond Valley Basketball Association (Junior competition – Mid Week Girls and Saturday Boys) and many of our juniors have progressed to selection for representation in the Diamond Valley Eagles Championship program. In 2009 the Creekers have a number of players representing our club and the Diamond Valley Association in the state based basketball competition (VJBL) ranking them amongst the top junior athletes in the country.
Club Philosophy
The aims of the Diamond Creek Basketball Club are:
To develop teams, coaches and individual players to achieve their maximum ability in order to participate successfully in the Diamond Valley Basketball Association.
To create a fun, learning environment where basketball is taught from an introduction phase (a modified approach) to advanced player development.
To provide opportunities for coaches and officials to develop their skills and achieve progression into representative programs and senior competition.
To be renown for being the centre of basketball in the Diamond Creek and surrounding region.
At all age groups the Creekers aspire to enter teams to realize their potential and participate in a grade as high possible and to enjoy success in their final grade. We understand that not every player will end up being an Andrew Gaze or Michelle Timms and most Creekers participants’ entire emphasis is playing for fun or with their mates.
However, the Creekers are committed to providing a pathway to those players looking to progress to a higher and more competitive standard and will endeavor to do everything possible to ensure this will happen.
Training Philosophy
All Creekers teams are provided with a full training program with as many qualified coaches as available. Upon joining up to a Creekers team, players are required to train on a weekly basis and participate in a match game per week.
