Interview with a Warrior... Meet Kimberly. One of the funniest humans I have met. The wisdom and character that she brings to group sessions is always entertaining and we love having her. She has lost 26kg in 18 weeks and is looking smashing. I have loved watching her shrink and grow at the same time. What do you love about the Challenge? That it gives me something to do each day - a reason to get up. And move and be social. What has been the hardest part of the Challenge? Remembering to stay focused on my own achievements and not compare my ability/agility/strength/speed/stamina or change with other people. At the same time it's a positive thing though as watching someone fitter/stronger/whatever is a wonderful source of motivation. What have you learnt? Biggest lesson? That it is all about the movement. And nutrition. But mainly movement. That there's truth in that whole 'exercise releases feel good endorphins' and that you get out what you are willing to put in. What are you most proud of? Myself. I'm proud that I have gone from barely 1500 steps a day and losing my breathe climbing a small hill...to choosing to run up the hill, finding different ways to increase my activity levels and actually wanting to be social. Why would you recommend it to other people? Absolutely. The Warriors program is life changing. It undoes layers, removes walls and creates strength through community. Any other comments? You can. You really, really can.

Interview with a Warrior... Meet Nicola. She is one staunch, powerful lady. I met Nicola back in April last year and boy has she had some success in that time. Nic has come off the back of losing 36kg in 30 weeks and is looking frickin' amazing. She is one of the most dedicated people I have trained and I love seeing and being apart of her personal growth over the last 8 months. What do you love about the Challenge? The people I’ve met doing it. What a beautiful, inclusive bunch of people. Nobody judges me on my silly hair or tattoos, they’re interested in who I am and are incredibly supportive and full of love. I’ve built some impenetrable friendships, reconnected with people and it’s added this beautiful dimension to my life that was missing. Emma of course – who’s helped me to find myself under the 36kg I’ve lost so far, who’s also taught me to be kinder to myself. What has been the hardest part of the Challenge? For me, not going too mad with exercise and nutrition. To find the balance with things and accept I’m not always going to get what I want, when I want it. What have you learnt? Biggest Lesson? That I’m human, and that my body is so much more capable of things I didn’t realise. That it’s okay not to be strong all the time and that I really, really like exercising, even though I’ve had my fair share of whingeing about it in sessions sometimes, haha. What are you most proud of? The internal strength, as well as the external that I’ve been able to get back. Removing a lot of self-imposed fear out of my life and losing this sh*t tonne of weight. Also – getting strong has been so empowering for me again. I was squatting my mates on New Years Eve, which is both hilarious and awesome ;) Why you would recommend it to other people? Well, it works for starters, provided you’ve got the right level of commitment. It’s 100% fool proof and you learn so much about yourself and your body. You have to take it as it comes and trust the process. If you’re honest about what you’re putting in your mouth and the amount of reps you count and weight you move – you really can’t fail.

Interview with a Warrior... Meet Megan. She has been training with us on and off for just over a year. Megan is has had to overcome surgery and injuries to get to where she is but she is one of the hardest workers in training, never compromising on form to be faster than anyone (Even though she is a lot of the time). What do you love about the Challenge? I enjoy the variation of the workouts with a little bit of predictability knowing what I’m in for each day (although never quite knowing the full extent of the workout until the night before). I really enjoy the social aspect of the challenge and have made a number of really great friends, and we do fitness/social activities together outside of the challenge. I like the Whiteboard on Wodify, that ranks our workouts against each other. It often motivates me to move faster, lift heavier or ensure that I’m putting in my best effort. What has been the hardest part of the Challenge? If I have a “bad” couple of days in a week, I find it hard to get back on the wagon and continue putting in maximum effort. Once I think I don’t have a chance of winning, I tend to get a bit half arsed with it. Getting up at 4:50am to make it to the 5:30am sessions. What have you learnt? Biggest Lesson? Consistency is key. It is important to plan, organise and prepare for the days ahead, especially when life gets busy and you’re trying to fit in nutrition and training and keep it a priority. Some days’ training is light on the cardio, so it’s important to ensure that I’m doing a little bit extra in my own time to maximise results. Even if I’m feeling sore and I think I won’t be able to do the workout, I actually can. What are you most proud of? My integrity to follow the workouts, use proper technique and ensure that form is not lost for the sake of getting the workout done quickly. The results I have gotten when I’ve applied myself to the program. Why you would recommend it to other people? It makes it easier to do the workouts when you are enjoying yourself – and the group of people that also do the program are fantastic. Emma makes it easy to follow the workouts, but also get the best out of yourself. If you are injured then she has excellent alternatives that make you work just as hard. You are held accountable for every workout, every meal and every other aspect that aids in the gaining of fitness/losing of weight. Any other comments: I tried to do this program on my own, I was not successful. It’s the perfect combination of fitness/social/emotional/mental aspects of each person that results in the successful completion of the program.

Interview with a Warrior... Meet Helen. She has been training with us for nearly 2 years and she is looking fantastic. Helen has lost close to 20kg since she has started and is one strong lady now. What do you love about the Challenge? The people - Emma (of course) but all the participants as well. Sometimes (Ok, quite regularly) I don't feel like getting out of bed and going to the gym but I know that there will be others there and it will be fun and we will laugh (a lot!). The camaraderie in the group is awesome and it feels like you are just hanging with your friends. What has been the hardest part about the Challenge? Going regularly. Being a former, flash in the pan, type of girl, making it apart of my life and what I 'do' has been challenging. What have you learnt? Biggest lesson? That my body can do way more than my mind thinks it can! What are you most proud of? My resilience and dedication to proper form. Having injured my knee, I have had quite a number of modifications which got me down but I persisted through them and worked on my form which has helped me reduce the impact of my injury and let me do more than I previously could. Why you would recommend it to other people? If you are like me and think the gym is for "other people", this is the program for you! It's not exercising, it's hanging with a great bunch of people that like to pick up heavy things, punch things and sweat a bit. You won't regret it! Any other comments? Just Do It (sorry Nike!)
