Update on funeral details for Ed Conrad. Friday 5 May 2017 at 2.00 pm at the Indooroopilly Uniting Church. Members in uniform please.

We have just received this message from Linda concerning our late Vice President ED CONRAD. "Just letting you know that Ed took his last breath on Easter Saturday. I was waiting to tell you until I knew about the funeral, but I think the word is getting around informally and I really do want his bowls mates to know. You would have had a game yesterday, and he would have loved to be playing with you. He struggled so valiantly to live. Could you let his bowls mates know? At some stage I was hoping a few men or women in the club could be pallbearers. But things are being planned now. I am having trouble coping with all I am supposed to be doing - letting everyone know who should know, planning the funeral (and it will be probably on May 4th because I can't move fast in doing all that needs to be done), etc. I will let you know when things have been decided."

Update on Ed Conrad........ In order to reach Ed's friends, Linda is writing a post on his Facebook. Ed was admitted to palliative care today (Good Friday in Australia). Ed has fought this sarcoma since 2005. Although it usually recurs every year or two, he was free of it for 8.5 years. He was so happy to be given the chance of life with an immunotherapy drug, Keytruda; but it was ineffective for him. He has endured so much with incredible strength and courage. We have both been grateful for the superlative care he has received at the Wesley Hospital and for the kind and loving wishes from family, friends, colleagues, and students, past and present. Ed is sleeping peacefully tonight.

Linda posting for Ed Conrad: I am still in the Wesley Hospital. On Monday I expect to have the fourth dose of the immunotherapy drug, Keytruda. Afterward (not sure how long after), there will be scans to determine whether it has had beneficial effects.
