Are you looking to get into Medicine beginning in 2018, or 2019? Well, the competition is fierce. You have to achieve a strong ATAR, and perform well in an interview, but the secret ingredient is doing well in the UMAT. What is the UMAT? It's an 180 minute multiple-choice test, with 137 questions, divided into three sections: Logical Reasoning, Understanding People, and Non-Verbal Reasoning. These summer holidays, we're offering you the chance to get ahead on UMAT preparation. Rather than do it through the school term, when the pressure is on with exams, assignments, assessments, and homework, learn through the holidays at one of our Medstart Care Courses. Over a 5 day course, you'll go through archetypal questions from every section, learn the techniques you need to maximise your marks in each one, and sit a full-length, specially written UMAT exam based on past UMAT papers. You'll also review your performance to see what you need to improve. COURSE DATES: Chatswood: 16/1 - 20/1 Epping: 21/1 - 25/1 Hurstville: 9/1 - 13/1 Hurry, sign up now before places fill up! Don't miss this chance to get in vital preparation for the next UMAT. To all those sitting the UMAT tomorrow - GOOD LUCK! Make sure to make sure you're in the best possible condition to sit the exam tomorrow: get adequate sleep, eat well, stay hydrated, and make sure you double check the protocols for test day (listed further below). Don't 'cram' excessively or stay up late doing practice papers - at this stage, it's important to minimise nerves and worry by simply relaxing. If you have time, reread the Medstart 'General Skills UMAT Bible', which contains important tips and insights into the mentality of an effective test taker. Ensure that you've made plans for transport, and MAKE SURE TO BRING your printed and completed admission ticket, as well as photo identification (e.g. passport or drivers license). Photocopies will NOT be accepted! Remember, the exam protocols include the following: - Food is not permitted in the test room unless you have a medical condition. Make sure to eat beforehand! - Water is permitted in a clear plastic bottle. - Your mobile phone must be switched off and placed in your bag or face up under your desk. - You can wear an analogue wristwatch. Alarm and stopwatch functions must be turned off during the test. - Note paper is not permitted. Any rough work is to be done in the margins of your test booklet. - The UMAT is a 3 hour test and there will be an additional 10 minutes reading time at the beginning of the test, in which writing is not permitted. Best of luck to all our 2016 UMAT candidates!
