Flavourhood Tours offers people the chance to step into a not-so-touristic neighbourhood of Melbourne, introducing the area primarily via its food. Come join us on our 'Welcome To Sydney Road Food Tour'
Length of tour: 4 hours
Starting time: Departs 10am every Saturday morning
Meeting point: Outside of Coburg Library; corner Victoria and Louisa Streets, Coburg, Victoria
Maximum Group Size: 10
Cost: $80 September only (usual cost $99)
Includes: Tastings at 6 different venues, transport during the tour and samples to take home
Sydney Road is exciting, ethnic and diverse and you don’t need a lot of money to eat well or have a good time here. It is rich in history and culture, unpretentious, genuine and alive!
What to expect:
On a typical 4 hour tour you get to know the community by tasting a variety of delicious food and drink at 6 different venues. They each have a unique story about their business, cuisine and culture to tell.
As well as accessing the community easily you will gain insider knowledge of the area. Along the way we will share stories of Sydney Road’s history, how it has evolved over time and how it has become what it is today.
We create a friendly environment where you can chat with your fellow tour members, meet the locals and join the Sydney Road community, rather than just being an observer.
During the tour you will collect samples to remember the day or perhaps turn an ingredient into a delicious dish of your own.
How to find us / travel arrangements:
We arrange an easily accessible location to meet in Coburg in the morning. After that we explore mostly on foot but will also catch one of Melbourne’s iconic trams.
