The opening round of the 2016 Australian Karting Championship was held at the fantastic Dubbo Karting Circuit last weekend. The event was a great start to the season for DPE Kart Technology drivers. Young Arrow driver Leigh Nicolaou put in a head turning performance to come through the field and win the X30 final, edging out fellow DPEKT drivers Morgan Feast (FA Kart) and Daniel Rochford who showed his own Arrow kart had plenty of pace after qualifying P1. The Final podium of KA4 Junior was a pleasing all DPEKT showing with Travis Worton (Arrow), Oscar Priest (Monaco) and Broc Feeney (Kosmic) leading the way. The KA1 final saw Kosmic driver Reece Sidebottom claim a well deserved victory from HDR Arrow driver Scott Sorensen, Sidebottom qualified P1 and continued his weekend form throughout the race. Dave Sera and his Deadly Kart showed the way in qualifying for KZ2 starting the final on pole, but some close racing in the final saw him drop down the standings at the finish. Well done to Toby Dvorak (FA) on his podium finish in the Final of Cadet 9, and also Dean O'Brien (Arrow) and Matt McLean (Arrow) who made the podium in the KA3 Senior Final. Brendan Nelson was another to represent DPEKT on the top step after victory in the TaG 125 Final and rounded out what was a great start to the season for DPEKT drivers, overall DPEKT drivers won 4 of the 9 classes. Congratulations to all drivers, family and crew for your efforts over the event.

Nick Percat

We welcome Nick Percat to the DPEKT family. Nick was a happy man after going under the lap record at Todd Road during his first outing in the Kosmic Mercury KZ machine with a 38.3.
