Whoohoo:The online index also provides enhancements, to that on the microfiche, where possible showing mothers maiden name for births prior to 1911, and age at death for those records prior to 1865. There is also the facility to purchase a certificate. https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/menu.asp

An example of how Ancestry DNA can help you with your research. One of my 4th cousin matches showed this possibility. My ancestor Jane was the daughter of George and Ann born in North Yorkshire. But, having seen this as a possible match I widened my search to Marfleet. I was able to locate a possible George and from there locate a possible marriage in Lincolnshire. The marriage confirmed that he was from Marfleet. Then I was lucky to find a newspaper report confirming that George had moved from Sutton (near Marfleet) to Melbourne (near Bishop Wilton), North Yorkshire. And from there I was able to find George and his widow's burials in Marfleet. Also confirmed by other records. From here I can now go back a couple more generations! :D #AncestryDNA

My #AncestryDNA test is in! WOW, so exciting, I can recommend it as being worthwhile. This is what you see. If their trees are public you can checkout any possible links, if they are private you can message them, and a good percentage have no trees and have only done the test for Ethinicity it seems? I have 302 pages of 50 matches per page to shuffle through, which will make my genealogy life a bit different!!!
