Hey everyone! I know some of you considering Rodan + Fields probably have many questions about the financial costs of starting your own business so that's what I am going to address. DID YOU KNOW that the average business costs $30,000 to start and takes 2-3 years to break even and costs over $2,000/month to maintain!?! This is lengthy, but I also know there are probably some of you looking for more CONCRETE information as to HOW this works. First off, when you start a RF business, you are a legitimate business owner. Just because it "looks" different than owning what we've all been used to as a traditional brick and mortar business (like a boutique, a restaurant, etc), it is still the exact same thing, except better.... because it IS virtual. Basically, you can take your business with you, in your pocket, and run it around your life and from wherever you happen to be. With ANY business ownership, comes an initial investment to start, and operating costs / overhead to maintain. If people could start and run their own successful businesses for $0, I am guessing that a.) everyone would do it and b.) we would very quickly become a third world country with no economy But I digress... Basically, think of it like you are opening a virtual skin care franchise, because that is what it is. There is just no physical storefront, no building rent, no employees to pay, no power bills, no marketing or advertising bills, no massive amounts of inventory to keep in stock. Very different than for example, a Starbucks or Subway franschise. The initial investment is no less than 6 figures. The monthly operating costs include paying rent for a storefront, paying employees, buying the food / drinks, paying the electricity, paying to advertise on all the radio stations....you catch my drift.... A business like RF gives the average person like me and you the chance at business ownership, with minimal start up and low monthly operating costs, and the ability to earn a completely unlimited amount of money. For many, it IS simply just a "plan b" an extra that gives their families just more options....whatever they may be. For some, it's crazy wealth beyond their wildest dreams .....and everything in between. Point is......all of the above is possible. And it can be what you make of it. SO - as far as starting a RF business (U.S prices- Canada a little different). There are 4 enrollment options, 3 of which give you products: $45 - no product but you are a consultant $395 $695 $995 So, $1,000 or less. Not many businesses you can start for that. In order to be considered an "Active" Consultant - meaning that you receive commission on your sales, you are looking at around $120 - $125 / per month overhead to run your business. This is broken down like this: $24.95 - your 2 websites. First 30 days are FREE. This runs your websites for customers to manage their accounts (like what you do) and also an additional website which is your "back office" - track your sales, customers, marketing materials to use and a virtual training library. $80 - products. These can be: 1. Products you personally need 2. Supplies to make mini facials - which we hand out as samples and / or gifts 3. Incentives or gifts - teachers, hostess, whatever 4. You could do a "bulk order" for tanners or eye cream or something like that - and use those orders to fill this minimum. Then collect payment from those that ordered 5. If you have a customer that just wants to buy one or two things, doesn't want to be a PC - buy it for them this way......and have them pay you directly 6. If someone places a retail order - meaning they are NOT a PC and they pay full price plus shipping ALL THAT BEING SAID.......the monthly minimum is actually OPTIONAL. You can basically turn it "off" and "on" each month. This is more for people who have a slow start. So for ex. If I enrolled in May.....and I have ZERO sales in June, it would make no sense for me to buy my product minimum that month, unless I personally needed something, b/c there would be no commission I was losing out on. Hope that makes sense. Lots of people wait until close to last day of each month, see what their numbers are and then either place an order or not. Very simple flexible. I would say though, that the $24.95 website is a must, and I wouldn't turn that off. Considering this is a virtual biz, obviously websites are KINDA crucial. Another thing to consider....one HUGE advantage to being a business owner are the potential tax benefits. Once you position yourself as one, so many of your every day expenses become a tax write off. Your cell phone, computer, printer paper, a cute picture you want to hang in your office, a portion of your utilities/rent/mortgage, mileage, any and all RF products you purchase, your website, gifts for your team, travel expenses, the list goes on and on.
