As we were cleaning up the banana patch we wondering if we could draw on the cut off pieces of the tree trunk. We discovered 1. It really isn't a trunk and, 2. Through trial and error markers were the best tool for drawing.

It was like Mother Nature knew the school holiday children were planning to stroll to the banana patch this morning. She left treasures for us to discover. We discussed and compared where we live, the sizes of homes, how many we live with, why we would leave our home and how we travel. (Collaborate with children as they learn through play • Confident and involved learners, developing effective communication skills • Forming connectings with their world). Maybe we could turn our information into a chart about our immediate environment. Research lifecycles and habitats to protect and encourage more visitors. (Contribute to their world)

Always something to discover in your garden. Today I really enjoyed my gardens colours. Yellow, white, lime green and red. Did you know even the beetroots roots are red?. A simple stroll in the garden opens up so many possible learning experiences. What did you discover in your garden and where did it take you?

Yesterday this recycled gem enjoyed lunching with the city dwellers at Think.Eat.Save with Ozharvest. It has just been asked to make an appearance at the EKKA. My little sustainable garden is on a mission to inspire others to start where you are, use what you have, do what you can. (A simple project, that cost under $10 and 20mins to complete. My kids got involved by drilling the drain holes in the tins)
