Asbestos Awareness! The Town of Bassendean is urging local industry, business and trades to utilise the newly announced asbestos management resources for commercial and non-residential properties. In an Australian first, the Asbestos Management Handbook for Commercial and Non-residential Properties provides property owners, managers, developers and workers with essential, practical, user-friendly guidelines and tools to manage ACMs in line with requirements. Road works are in progress on West Rd to improve safety and parking, the works include installing a children’s crossing in front of Bassendean Primary School, widening of the road to create additional parking bays and changing existing speed humps to a new profile. Road closures will be in place between Devon Rd, Harcourt St and Lovelock Place. The road works are scheduled to be completed by 30 January 2018. Did you know the Town has over 110kW of solar PV systems installed on administration and community buildings? These solar PV systems have contributed to a reduction of 8.2% (around 137 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent) in the Town's corporate carbon emissions in the last financial year alone! This is equivalent to removing approximately 49 cars from the road for a whole year or planting 822 trees.
