Looking vaguely like it could be the start of a Christmas Tree... here’s 14.7 tonnes of local Franklin Malting Barley freshly harvested by our friends Galafrey Wines at their farm estate in Mount Barker. There’s talk of Cameron commencing trials on floor malting our own malt in-house as early as this week in Porongurup. Floor malting is a very ancient craft which is labour intense and scientifically technical in its own right, and is the traditional method of creating malt.
