Zachary Historic Village
Description
Zachary Historic Village comprises an original city block in center of town, & includes Old Town Hall, Train Depot, McHugh House and detached garage, Allison House, Back Yard & Barn, and Bauman House, with landscaped lawns & pavilion. It all began when the McHugh family donated an old family home with the expressed hope that it would become a place where the history and heritage of the City of Zachary could be collected and exhibited. Within a decade or two, the city added two more houses, the Bauman House and the Allison House, along with a barn, that all together comprise a city block of Queen Anne structures built at the begining of the Twentieth Century. The Old Train Depot and the Old Town Hall were also designated as Museum buildings, rounding out the quaint and nostalgic "Downtown Zachary" area that is being locally designated as an historic district. The area is also being nominated to be included on the National Register of Historic Places.
