For Immediate Release Contact: David Vaicunas Mobile: 860-508-8600 Email: director@bradleyroadrace.org Website: www.bradleyroadrace.org Temporary Road Closures for the Bradley Road Race WINDSOR LOCKS, Connecticut (April 5, 2017) — On April 15, 2017, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., the Windsor Locks Lions Club will operate its 22nd Annual Bradley Road Race (formerly known as the Bradley International Road Race) on the streets of Windsor Locks around the Windsor Locks High School. Residents of some streets near the high school will experience temporary road closures as 400-500 runners race on 5K and 10K courses. Runners will begin and end at the high school, running on the following streets: Avon Road Bel-Aire Circle Bristol Road First Street Garry Road Gaylord Road George Road Green Manor Terrace Harvest Lane Juniper Road Laurel Road Litchfield Road Pine Hill Road School Road Second Street South Center Street South Elm Street South Street Southwest Avenue Walnut Circle Webb Street This is the third year the race is running along residential streets in Windsor Locks. Prior to 2015, it ran along the perimeter road skirting the edges of the airport property. It moved to town streets in 2015 in response to growing logistical problems and scheduling issues using airport property. Bradley International Airport remains a sponsor of the event. The Bradley Road Race has become a significant fund raiser, benefitting the many charitable causes supported by the Windsor Locks Lions Club. Members of the club work year-round to prepare for the race each year. “We are very grateful for the support we receive for this race from runners and residents alike,” said Race Director Lion David Vaicunas, “the funds we raise allow us to help those in need in our local community.” Vaicunas invites residents living along the race course to “come on out of your houses and cheer the racers on. Tailgate in your driveways and invite your friends over to join the fun.” All residents are invited to join the festivities at the high school for music and entertainment featuring local DJ Gabriel Fierro of Milestone Entertainment of New England. The Lions Club food truck will be on hand selling breakfast, snacks and beverages. Anyone with questions about road closures and race logistics may contact David Vaicunas at director@bradleyroadrace.org.
