The Family Statement............... Why did the Wilmot Stage Stop close so abruptly? We have operated a 7 generation family business, with pride, for 168 years. As a family, we have had to face the undeniable erosion of what we once stood for. The management changed hands over the years resulting in significant emotional instability for us, our employees, and customers. An evaluation of the last year revealed the consequences of ineffective management. One consequence was the timing and number of employee departures causing the inability to hire and train replacements. This situation left no alternative other than to close the doors immediately. We sincerely apologize to all as we stop, reflect, and reevaluate. The OVERWHELMING support that we have received the last two days is both heartwarming and inspiring. We now look forward to reestablishing our legacy. We invite you to watch our Facebook page and website as we prepare to reopen the doors. Ron and Nancy Hackett - Owners

1967! This article shows my grandfather cooking steaks over the same grill that we have preserved in the dining room today. My mind has to wonder how many steaks have been cooked on this grill through the years?? I love the title "Guests Taste History".......... That was almost 50 years ago! Paul Brown and Dewey Cates have been proudly representing the Stage Stop by cooking for over 34 years, and these men can cook a steak on point! What cooks do you remember through the years? There were many of great talent! I remember counting the number of steaks on the grill one Saturday night and he was cooking 90 steaks at once. That's a show anyone would enjoy watching. Come enjoy the ambiance and the "Taste of History" - reservations are recommended.
