Brandywine Zoo is saddened by the loss of our longtime resident, Cali, the Hoffmans two-toed sloth. She died yesterday and will be missed by all. Cali came to us 18 years ago from another zoo and she developed many admirers throughout the years. She was a wonderful ambassador for conservation of sloth habitats in the wild. Hoffmans two-toed sloths have life spans from about 15 to 20 years in the wild, and a bit longer in managed care. The zookeepers who cared for Cali daily are grieving and we wish to extend our heartfelt sympathy to our fellow zookeepers.
