In 1917, the first film ever to use the Technicolor process was released. The film, The Gulf Between, sparked a cinematic explosion and ushered in a golden age of visually stunning films. Technicolor’s spectacular achievements allowed filmmakers to use color as a story telling device, just as painters had been able to do. The films of the Technicolor era dazzled the eyes and, in the early 1940’s, as America headed back to war, color films began to attract larger audiences. For some, the movies were an escape, a place where you can sit in the dark and forget your troubles and enter a fantasy world. Life in “Living Technicolor” filled these fantasy worlds with magic. • To celebrate 100 Years of Glorious Technicolor, the Kimball will present a series of classic Technicolor films throughout the year beginning with Walt Disney’s first full-length feature film and Technicolor triumph, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. • Saturday, March 11th 2 pm & Sunday, March 12th at 12:30 and 2 pm
