facebook.comKeys to increasing SPEED!There is a ton of misconceptions about developing maximal speed. Here are some Facts and Fictions about speed 🏃💨 Perform towing/resisted exercises to re-enforce proper force direction application. 🏃💨 Work Velocity emphasis exercises. Research has shown adaptations are velocity specific. Train fast to be fast holds true. 🏃💨 Develop a strength base. When you're relatively weak, you can't produce force. Speed is a result of force application. 🏃💨 Develop stiffness, especially at the ankle joint. Many athlete sprint and look like they are running in mud. They lack stiffness and much of the force being produced is being "leaked." 🏃💨 Technique, technique, technique!!! Doesn't matter how strong or fast you are, if your mechanics are off, you will never achieve maximal speeds. Remember, sprinting is a SKILL, it MUST be practiced regularly. ⚠⚠⚠☠☠☠🛇🛇🛇 Doing "speed ladders" drills will NOT make you fast, in fact, it can make you SLOWER!! It incorrectly re-enforces "tap dancing" where minimal force application is produced. You go nowhere fast. Also, conditioning or endurance training is NOT speed training. You should not be "tired" during or following a real speed training session. If you are sprinting less than 90% of your fastest time, you are not working on maximal speed.

*Exciting News* Due to popular request, we are starting a NEW class...All about building an EXPLOSIVE athlete. What: Speed, Agility, Power, and Quickness When: Starting May 2nd (First week is free) Days/Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 7 pm & Fridays @ 5 pm. Who: Open to all athletes wanting to build explosivenes and power. What: we will teach proper Sprinting and Agility mechanics, proper landing and jumping progressions, weight room exercises, and many more activities that will reduce injuries and build power and speed. We are only accepting 10-12 athletes for this class. First week is free to participate. Please DM coach Jerry @coach_jerry_arias or call/text him @ 562-405-5352 if you want to participate. We want to welcome our newest athlete to our #TitanFamily . Aaron will be working with Performance Coach Brandon to help get him ready to be a Walk On Athlete with the Arizona State University Football program. ~~~~~ He plays the safety position and is looking to increase his explosiveness and improve his footwork. Day 1 always begins with getting baselines with performance testing. He never misses workouts, and is always open to learning new strategies to reach his fitness goals.
