Veltre's Pizza was born from one of the first pizza shops in the city of Pittsburgh, Gino's & Pete's Pizzeria, one of the original "Flying Pizza" places in Oakland. Conveniently located on Craig street between Carnegie Mellon University & The University of Pittsburgh. It was the mid 1960's and Central Catholic High School was hoppin' every Friday night. Pete Peri was a neighbor and good friend to the Veltre's, teaching the boys much about the trade. Gino's & Pete's Closed down in the early 1970's. Then in about 1977, the first Veltre's Pizza was opened in South Hills by brother Tony and Vince Veltre, which eventually evolved into what it is today Veltre's Pizza of Swissvale, White Oak & Oakmont.
