Garden Works Artist of the Week: Bedtime Stories by Sarah Simmons - This sculpture represents the wondrous journey we embark on when reading. This bed is made from discarded books that were outdated and/or damaged. The books themselves create the framework of the bed, evoking in the viewer a sense of thoughtfulness and dreaming, much like a bedtime story. Calling all K-9 lovers! On Saturday, August 26th from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Oglebay will host the 2nd annual National Dog Day celebration in partnership with Marshall County Animal Shelter, The Tiffany Dlesk Spay-Neuter Clinic, Ohio County Sheriff's Office and Crosswinds K-9. This event is open to the public and festivities will take place at the Wagon Shed, adjacent to Schenk Lake. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Free microchips provided to the first 75 pets in attendance, courtesy of the Ohio County S.P.C.A. Chips installed by Dr.Weir of Tiffany Dlesk Spay-Neuter Clinic - Adoption pets presented by Marshall County Animal Shelter 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. K-9 demonstration and gear demo presented by the Ohio County Sheriff's Department. 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Dog obedience and training clinic presented by Phyllis Tustin of Crosswinds K-9. All dogs will receive a FREE treat bag courtesy of Ohio County S.P.C.A. Join us for more K-9 fun on September 4th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the annual Drool at the Pool event at the Crispin Center outdoor pool! A donation of $5.00 per dog is requested for participation and all donations benefit Oglebay Good Zoo animal care and conservation. All participating dogs must have current vaccination records and all owners must present proof of current Rabies vaccination for each participating dog.
