75th Anniversary Kick-Off Event

It was a wonderful way to jump-start a very special year for the Community House as a gathering of city and state officials, past agency board presidents, a former executive director, a major developer and what some are calling an unprecedented appearance of three city mayors in one place were just some of the highlights of the agnecy’s 75th Anniversary Kickoff Event on January 25, 2016.

West Haven Community House launches 75th anniversary celebration amid fanfare

We kicked off our 75th Anniversary yesterday in a ceremony with almost 100 people including city and state legislators, past and present board members and directors, as well as many donors, staff and friends.

TUESDAY, JAN. 19, 2016 - State Sen. Gayle Slossberg, D-14, made a special visit to the West Haven Community House’s main building on Elm Street this morning to present an Official Citation from the Connecticut General Assembly in Hartford to agency board and staff in honor and recognition of the agency’s 75th anniversary being celebrated during all of 2016. During the visit, Sen. Slossberg outlined some of her ongoing legislative priorities and pledged her continuing support of the programs and services offered by the West Haven Community House, first founded in 1941. Sen. Slossberg noted that the Community House does “special and vital work in the community and I am honored and pleased to be here this morning to present this proclamation on behalf of the state legislature.” In the group picture is Sen. Slossberg presenting the Official Citation to Board 1st Vice President Ken Prisco, center, and flanked, left to right, by Board 2nd Vice President Bill Heffernan III, Marketing and Special Events Director Kathy Hart-Jones, Board Secretary Jay Brennan, Board member and past president Mary Jane Morrissey, special guest Suzanne Werth from The Werth Family Foundation, Assistant Executive Director/Finance Deborah Wright and Executive Director Patty Stevens.
