Hi, My name is Neej Shockley. I've enjoyed serving as moderator of our district Facebook Page -- mainly because it has given me insight into so many proud and amazing Pirate families - students, staff, and community. We are taking a short pause until school starts up again when you will have a new moderator. Have a safe and AWESOME summer break!!

C.F. Holliday first graders visited Carillon Park recently. This was the entry event for a project based learning experience about communities in the past and present. The students explored the one-room schoolhouse and saw a hunter fire a musket. They dipped candles and learned the importance of fire. These first graders also planted seeds, watered the garden, and explored Newcom Tavern. They were so excited to use what they have learned to create their communities.

WCMS 7th grade ELA classes just finished up a Shark Tank Project Based Learning Experience. Ms. York's class got a chance to present their project to former NFL defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles and current local business owner Andy Harmon (our shark). Andy helped kick off the project by sending the students a video of himself. In the clip, he introduced himself and challenged the students to create their own products and to use persuasive techniques to convince him to "invest" in their products. He also let them know that he looked forward to coming in to see their finished results. Over the past few weeks, in groups, students created their products, determined their target audiences, and learned about the art of advertising from David Esrati, owner of The Next Wave, a local marketing company. Students then applied what they learned to develop their own advertisements, commercials, and "Shark Tank" presentations. Impressive job students!
