Former NBA player, Ryan Gomes, alongside with AED advocate and great friend, Rachel Moyer, hosted his 10th annual Hoops For Heart Health golf outing this past weekend in Waterbury, CT. There were nearly 150 golfers to support the event to help raise funds for AEDs. Gomes is the founder of Hoops For Heart Health, a foundation that helps raise awareness and money to purchase AEDs for high schools, colleges and recreation centers. The foundation has placed over 100 defibrillators in different locations since 2006. He started the foundation after a friend and fellow basketball player died after experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
