Spirit Day: Today, Friday, March 23rd is Spirit Day for clothing. SPIRIT DAYS: Students choosing not to participate in Spirit Day must be in the approved dress code attire. The final Friday of each month will be designated as a spirit day unless a school event is happening. This may include Mass or school picture day. The date would then be adjusted. All Columbus Catholic/Blessed Maria Assunta Pallotta apparel may be worn. This includes regular shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, 1/4 zips, and jackets. Jeans, plain or Columbus Catholic/Blessed Maria Assunta Pallotta sweatpants, plain or Columbus Catholic/Blessed Maria Assunta Pallotta athletic shorts, or slacks may be worn. Yoga pants, spandex, and leggings are not permitted. Legwear may not have holes, rips, or tears. Hats, caps, bandanas, and other head coverings are not permitted. Shirts must not be sleeveless. Piercing, shoe, and tattoo regulations are still in effect. Meeting for Boys planning on going out for Football this Fall: There will be a meeting in the Commons at 3:15 on Friday. If you can not be there, make sure that you email Coach Schmit. If you were out for Football last year, you received an email on Tuesday night about the meeting. Musical Crew If you are interested in joining the crew for the Spring Musical, please contact the director (Kyle) at columbusmusical@gmail.com or speak with someone you know from the cast or existing crew. Crew opportunities include lighting, sound, backstage, hair, makeup, and costumes. It would be important to have high availability the week and weekend of April 23rd through 29th. First Robotics Competition: The FRC Team Coded Collective will be competing at the UNI Dome Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. On Thursday we scrimmage with other teams as practice. Competition then is Friday and Saturday starting at 8:00 and going until 5:00. There is no cost to come and watch, there will be a cost to park though. Please come out and support the Columbus FRC Team. People can go to https://www.thebluealliance.com/event/2018iacf to watch the matches live if they are unable to attend. State Speech Results and All-State Speech Nomination Please extend your congratulations to the members of the Individual Events Speech Team for a successful weekend at State Speech. The team included 16 State-Qualifying students presenting in 22 events. 19 of the entries received at least one Division One rating, 12 received overall Division One ratings, and 5 received straight Division One ratings: Kyndall Roberts and Samantha Heuthorst in Solo Musical Theatre, Lucas Kahler in After Dinner Speaking, and Dylan Mack in Spontaneous Speaking and Original Oratory. Dylan Mack was nominated to be an All-State speaker in the category of Spontaneous Speaking. He will speak at the IHSSA All-State Individual Events Speech Festival at UNI in Cedar Falls on Monday, March 26th, during the section beginning at 1:30pm in the Oak Room of the Maucker Union on campus.
