Is it Spring Yet? Sign-up for our 5 day Immersion Course, April 13-19th, 2017, Hosted in Washougal, Washington. Classes are taught by 2 instructors and are limited to 6 students per session. Our program is a 5 day, immersion course April 13 -19th, 2017– includes lodging at the Washougal Guest House, and is the first program of its kind on the West Coast. Learn the basic skills to become a whitewater kayaker. Our whitewater kayak school is located at the Gateway to The Columbia River Gorge, in Washougal, Washington. The Washougal River is 15 minutes from the Portland, Oregon Airport and is a 33-mile tributary of the Columbia River. The headwaters and upper 21 miles are in Skamania County in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and the lower 12 miles are in Clark County and meets the Columbia River near Camas, Washington. The Washougal River is a mix of several class I and II rapids, a couple of class III drops, and one great class IV rapid called Big Eddy.
