WOW WOW WOW!!! Amy Mareck YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION! Your dedication to be a healthier you is mind blowing! You're a kind soul and your determination is jaw dropping. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your story with us and OTF Fans! Your story sets a standard for hard work, determination and self love. Absolutely beautiful! Amy's Story: "My weight has been issue ever since I can remember. 28 years ago to be exact. I was 4. I remember my pediatrician telling my mom that I was excessively heavy for my age. Every since then, my parents have made it their mission to make sure I was healthy. Sounds great right? The only problem was, I was adopted into a family that was "naturally" thin. My younger brother, also adopted, was also skinny. My parents had a hard time tactfully getting me to think healthy. I remember my brother always being offered seconds at meal times, and when I would ask for seconds I would get a frown followed up with, "Do you think you really need that? Maybe an apple would be better." This led me to eating almost out of spite, and would hide my food. It wasn't my parents fault, they didn't know any better. They just wanted me to be healthy. Fast forward to my senior year of high school. That was the year the Atkins diet was all the rage. I wanted to go off to college not being known as "the fat one." I lost 55 pounds between my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college. After I hit my goal, I became complacent and gained back all my weight and then some (I don't remember exactly how much, but it was around 65 pounds back). After I graduated college in 2008, I found Weight Watchers and Zumba and lost 70 pounds. Shortly after, I met my husband and gained 30 lbs of "happy weight." When we became pregnant with my son, I gained a total of 67 pounds. The day I was admitted to the hospital to give birth, I was 260 lbs. I am 4'10"! As of March 1st 2018, I am back down to what I was pre-pregnancy! When I heard an Orangetheory was opening near me, I didn't really know what it was all about, but it sounded cool! I went and signed up at pre-sales, and didn't really have any intention of it going anywhere as I didn't think I could afford it for long, but didn't want to miss out on the founders rate! Fast forward 15 months later and I'm still going at it! I have lost 55 pounds (and counting!) and LOOK FORWARD to going to my workouts. I actually get very disappointed when I can't make a scheduled session. What is happening to me?!? I love the energy of working out with a group, I love the music, and I love the variety of the workouts. The coaches are totally inspiring! I love how they have given me a healthy view of food. I no longer feel guilty or beat myself up of having a cheat meal or a cheat day. OTF has helped me realize that it's a journey, not a race and with a positive mindset anything is possible!"
