The nation's first and only recorded evidence of a nursery herd of Pleistocene mammoths. The Waco Mammoth National Monument Facebook page was created by the City of Waco Parks & Recreation Department in partnership with the National Park Service to facilitate the exchange of information with the general public. The Waco Parks and Recreation Department welcomes comments and postings related to City of Waco parks, recreational programs, community events, and classes for the residents of the City of Waco, Texas, and surrounding communities.

Happy birthday to the National Park Service!
This lovely lady is a Carolina mantis, one of many insect species found at Waco Mammoth. The insects can be green, brown, or grey, depending on their surroundings. In fact, the Carolina mantis can adjust its color to match the environment each time it molts. The park's mantises should be changing into their "fall wardrobes" soon!
