Live at the Academic Rodeo Awards Competition! Your support during the Fair helps fund this months-long academic competition benefitting over 100 local schools! Today, 350 students will be awarded for their excellence in competition with 11 of those receiving scholarships for higher education.

Did you know? While the East Texas State Fair was officially established in 1912, its origins date back to fairs in the 1800's in the streets of downtown Tyler.
The fairgrounds are buzzing today as students from all over East Texas are gathered to compete in our Mindset Breaking Experience competition. Part of Academic Rodeo, Mindset Breaking Experience encourages students to "think outside the box" and teaches creativity and innovation through experiential education. Students use props and create scenarios to exercise their creative thinking, teamwork, and communication skills. More information: http://bit.ly/2zyFArl
We kicked off Academic Rodeo this week with the preliminary rounds of Academic Challenge Quiz Bowl. Completely funded by proceeds from the Fair, Academic Rodeo consists of 14 educational contest with over 100 different schools participating. Learn more: http://bit.ly/2lJ1vXD
