Gun of the Week! This model of Colt Frontier SAA is a long barrel variation, sometimes erroneously referred to as a “Buntline”, or “Buntline Special”. This gun was used widely during the U.S. expansion of the West. Some of the more notable users included Buffalo Bill Cody, Theodore Roosevelt, and Pat Garett. They are commonly described as an extra-long Colt Single Action Army revolver, with a 12 inch long barrel. Buntline presented these to five lawmen: Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, Bill Tilghman, Charlie Bassett, and Neil Brown. This model The Colt Frontier SAA is a .45 Colt with a 12” inch barrel. It is a 1979 Ned Buntline commemorative, as produced by Colt. It is presented in a commemorative wood case that is lined in felt to show-off the famous revolver’s bright nickel finish and its ammo.

Gun of the Week! A distinguishing feature on this List 14 is the Greener Cross bolt. This is a bolt that, upon breaking open the shotgun, protrudes from the left side of the action. This bolt fits into a hole built between the barrels and adds additional fastening strength upon closing the weapon (in addition to the Purdey-style bites beneath the barrels). This List 14 shotgun is a wonderful representation of 19th-century British gun manufacturing and bears whiteness to the innovation and inventions of this era. During the time from 1850-1890, a tremendous amount of innovation was achieved. The period of 1890- 1914 is often referred to as the “Golden Age” of fine shotgun design and manufacture - most modern side-by-side and over-under shotguns have not varied dramatically from the innovations of that time period.
