Matteo Iron & Metal
Description
Metal Recycling Matteo Iron & Metal was started by Giacomo Matteo in 1930. He purchased a 79 acre parcel of property that we still currently own and operate on. A portion of the property was farmed for a number of years While the other part was used as a metal recycling facility. When Giacomo fell ill,in is his later years, his son, James Augustus Matteo and James's brothers took over the daily operations.
They ran the farm & metal facilities for a number of years until the farm was eventually put out of service and the recycling facility grew over the farm area. James's brothers left the industry eventually years later and James was left running the company by himself. He eventually had his two sons come in, James Frank Matteo & Frank James Matteo back in the late 60's and early 70's. James Augustus eventually fell ill as well. James Frank & Frank James took over the daily operations in the early 1980's.
The company grew to one of the premier recycling facility's in the Tri-State Area. At one time, the company employed over 30 workers. James Frank Matteo passed away suddenly in 1995. Which left Frank James in charge of daily operations. Frank's son James Anthony Matteo came into the company part time in 1996. After completing college in 2000, James started with the company full time. Frank James fell ill in 2001 and still worked with his son James until he passed away in 2009.
