Mark your calendar! Big Ray and The Motor City Kings kick off the Music & Art in the Gardens summer series on June 6 at the Taylor Conservatory and Botanical Gardens at Northline and Pardee roads. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.; the concert starts at 6:30. Admission is just $5 for the concert. Funds raised help keep the gardens growing. Opening night will include local barbecue food, a full bar, artist displays and a car show. Sponsorship for music series is available and includes premium seating and tickets to the show. The series runs every Wednesday through August 12, except July 4. Car show participants will enjoy free grass parking on the back lot. Trophies will be created by local car guy and metal artist Shaggy Leblanc from Shaggy's Radicals. A 50/50 drawing will be held to help support the gardens. Great to see so many people at the 10th annual Growing Great Gardens at the Downriver Campus of Wayne County Community College District in Taylor. What a wonderfully successful event! Members of the Taylor Garden Club and the Taylor Conservatory Foundation set up an "all things gardening" day that draws folks from all over. Photos will be posted in a gallery on Heritage Park Photo of the Day as time permits. Stay tuned!
