The Lake County Parks & Trails Division is inviting the public to a meeting to provide input on future parks, recreation and trails in Lake County. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at the Olde Mill Stream RV Resort, 1000 N. Central Ave., Umatilla. It will be the last of a series of Parks & Trails Master Plan meetings held throughout the county. Press Release: Lake County receives improved Building Code insurance rating
The Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), an insurer-supported organization, recently upgraded Lake County’s Building Code Effectiveness Classification into its top tier. Since 2014, the county’s rating climbed from 5 to 3 for residential properties and from 4 to 2 for commercial and industrial properties on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the best.

LAKEXPRESS TRAVEL ALERT: Due to road closures surrounding the 40th Annual Leesburg Art Festival, the LakeXpress Route 2 bus will make the following detours today beginning at 5 p.m. Traveling westbound the bus will make a left onto Canal; right onto Magnolia; right onto 12th Street and a left onto Main to return to the regular route.

6th Annual Landscape & Garden Fair
SAVE THE DATE: Lake County’s 6th Annual Landscape & Garden Fair, a free, botanical-themed festival, will be held Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 at the Lake County Extension Center’s Discovery Gardens, located at 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares. Some notable programs this year include “All About Roses,” taught by rosarian and Sumter County Master Gardener Ed Bull, “Beautiful Bugs – Butterflies, Pollinators and Beneficials in the Garden,” led by Orange County Horticulture Agent Kelly Greer and “Landscaping with Native Plants,” hosted by Sumter County Master Gardener Steve Turnipseed.
