This student run club was established to promote science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to the youth of the community. Students pursue STEAM, integrate academics, and develop skills for the future. This club was established to promote science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to the youth of the community. We achieve this by competing in 4 different robotics competitions: VRC, FTC, FRC, and Robofest. These competitions can be as small as 17 teams in regionals—or they can be as large as 450 teams in worlds. Everything is student run. Everything from mechanical advantage, to designs, to fabrication, to aesthetics, to calculations is student picked. Because of this, much of the school curriculum is adapted and applied to situations we see, and further personal research done by  students are carried to incoming members. As a result, no prior knowledge or experience is necessary to join this team.
The team runs continuously throughout the year. Meetings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the school year. However, we do schedule additional meetings during the school year, winter, and summer.  In these meetings, we construct robots, educate members, and document our work. Outside of competition, we assist members in school, celebrate, and demonstrate our robots.
To fully compete, the team can easily spend over $20,000+. To cut down, we engineer our robots to be as cost effective as possible and we recycle all of our materials. However, our funding is dependent on Mentor Support, Sponsorships, Grants, Parental Involvement, and our own Fundraisers. As a 501(c)3 company, we are tax deductible, and all donations go towards the students.

This team has many perks for students at Hillsborough. As an International Baccalaureate and Traditional school, students require CAS hours and Service hours to graduate and earn scholarships. As an active robotics team, we can fully cover both of these areas. Following STEAM, students can integrate academic concepts and further develop skills in communication, financing, and most importantly, teamwork. However these perks do not come without devotion. We guide and motivate our students to be innovators, leaders, and representatives of our school, for we hope that this experience is something that they can carry on for the rest of their lives.
