[Reminder] The Summerville, SC Fire & Rescue Department's Annual Fire Prevention Parade and Display is TODAY. The parade starts in the Oakbrook area of Summerville at 6 p.m. and the display takes place at Lowe's Shopping Center (1207 North Main Street) as trucks finish the route. 🚒 Parade Route: Begin on Midland Parkway headed towards Ladson Road, turn right onto Ladson Road, turn right onto Dorchester Road, turn right onto Old Trolley Road, turn right onto South Main Street at 5-points going through Historic Downtown Summerville, and end at Lowe's Shopping Center.

Mayor Wiley Johnson and Councilwoman Christine Czarnik at today's ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of the reopening of Dorchester Paws (formerly the Frances R. Willis SPCA). Pictured also are members of Leadership Dorchester Class of 2017 who helped with the much needed renovations of the facility. Dorchester Paws serves the lost, abandoned and abused animals of Dorchester County.

The parade will start in the Oakbrook area of Summerville at 6:00 p.m. and end at Lowe's Shopping Center (1207 N. Main Street) where the display portion of the event will be held. The expansion will accommodate 13 new vendors and one additional musician! [Attention: Lane Closures] Conti Enterprises, Inc., in conjunction with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), announces the following lane closures on I-26 from mile marker 188 to mile marker 191. The lane closures are necessary for median widening and to facilitate lane striping for a new traffic pattern. The schedule is as follows: I-26 Westbound – Median Widening • Sunday, October 1 starting at 8:00 PM and ending Monday, October 2 at 7:00 AM (Left-lane) • Monday, October 2 starting at 6:00 PM and ending Tuesday, October 3 at 8:00 AM (Left-lane) • Tuesday, October 3 starting at 7:00 PM and ending Wednesday, October 4 at 8:00 AM (Left-lane) • Wednesday, October 4 at 7:00 PM and ending Thursday, October 5 at 8:00 AM (Left-lane) I-26 Eastbound – Traffic Shift / New Traffic Pattern • Tuesday, October 3 starting at 6:00 PM and ending Wednesday, October 4 at 7:00 AM (Begins with right-lane closure, followed by and ending with the left-lane closure) All scheduled times are approximate and dependent on the weather. Drivers traveling near the construction zones are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the areas and to comply with traffic control signs, reductions in speed limits, and message board information. Drivers are also asked to be aware of the new and changing traffic patterns during the project.
