The Reforestation Camp trails are closed until tomorrow morning! Please, please, pretty please stay off the trails on skis, on foot, period until they can groom again after it freezes. This wet snow can be turned into something good if it is well cared for, but it is a tricky business to get right.

So far we know that of the county trails, only the Reforestation Camp is open. Trails are icy of course and no tracks are possible. Time for the snow dance again. The junior team will be out at 4:30 as usual on a Tuesday.

First off all, please stay off all the Brown Country ski trails. The base may still survive this thaw, but not if people ski on it and dig in ruts. Next, our morning option for practice is on at 10, a run led by Coach Dave at the pines. Our 3:30 - 5 afternoon option is on as well, either some backcountry skiing starting with the ditch or no poll skating on roller skis as conditions suggest. Bring leftover treats to the later practice!

Calling a Coaches!!! The 2016-17 ski season is fast approaching. We have a great year ahead of us with over 100 kids signed up to do the youth program. How exciting!! It is great to see the amount of returning families and hope that the new families joining us will continue on with their journey and enjoyment of skiing for years to come. Bay Nordic is strictly run by volunteers. Individuals like you, that love skiing, winter, being active, or just want to learn something that the entire family can do together. This many kids take a village to keep organized and we encourage all parents to help out where they can. With that being said... We need more coaches!! All parents are encouraged to get out on the snow and join us. Not sure what to do? We can help. This year we are trying something new. We have added a head coach to our program, Nick Reckinger. Nick will be heading up the big group warm up at the beginning of each session. After the big group warm up, everyone will split up, and Nick will float around and help with games and activities with some of the smaller groups. We are going to offer a couple of clinics for returning and new coaches. This is a great opportunity for everyone to get together, meet Nick, and learn some activities to do with the kids on the snow. If you are interested in helping out, please consider attending at least one of the below sessions. December 3 at 10:00 am Reforestation Camp at the Pines Building (this is the small building located at the North end of the parking lot for the NEW Zoo). December 10 at 9:00 am Reforestation Ski Lodge. This will be held before the first session. Please let me know if you are planning on attending one or both clinics. Thank you!!!
