SHS Sports News! YESTERDAY: Varsity Soccer lost to Harper Creek 1-3. Sturgis' lone goal was made by Meg Scheske. Varsity Golf competed in the Wolverine Conference Championship match yesterday at Four Lakes Golf Club in Edwardsburg. Sturgis finished 9th with a team score of 388. Ryan Brenneman earned All Conference Honors with his 4th place finish. TODAY: Good Luck to the Girls Varsity Tennis team who are competing in Regionals in Portage today. Play will be held at both Portage Northern and Portage Central. Play starts at 8:30 am. Good Luck to the Boys & Girls Track & Field teams as they also will be vying for Regional Championship honors at home. Action starts at 1:30. Boys JV Golf is at Harper Creek today at 3:30. Varsity Baseball & Softball teams are at Otsego for double headers beginning at 4:00. JV Baseball & Softball teams are at home against Otsego - same time. TOMORROW: JV Softball is at the Comstock Invitational tomorrow morning starting at 9:00. Sports News: YESTERDAY: Varsity Soccer lost to Plainwell 0-4. JV Soccer lost to Plainwell 0-8. Varsity Tennis was defeated by Portage Central 3-5. Flight winners for Sturgis were Krista Hart (#3 singles); Lilly Rehm (#4 singles), Hope Eichorn/Shiori Saeki (#2 doubles). JV Tennis beat Portage Northern 6-2. TODAY: Good Luck to the Boys Varsity Golf team as they head to Edwardsburg today to compete for a conference championship. Play starts at 9:30 and is at Four Lakes Golf Course. JV & Varsity Soccer teams are at Harper Creek tonight for a dual against the Beavers. Game times are 5:00 (JV) and 6:45 (Varsity). ADDITIONAL ANNOUNCEMENTS: Reminder to Senior athletes - your RSVP to the Exchange Club Banquet is tomorrow by the end of the day. Reminder that the (south) Athletic parking lot will be closed Friday due to us hosting the Regional Track Meet.

As many of you know, Mr. Evans agreed to SHAVE his head if we met our goal for the Relay for Life… And we did! Once again, a HUGE thank you to all of our students and staff who helped raise money for this cause! we have great students and staff here at SHS!

The following information regarding testing out of a course for the 2017-2018 school year has been emailed to all students. Please contact our Guidance office if you have any questions, 269-659-1520. Dates for Testing Out: - Applications will be available beginning Wednesday, May 17th, in the Guidance Office. -Completed applications must be returned to the Guidance Office by Friday, May 26th, at 12:00 noon. -Study materials (textbook and syllabus) will be issued on Wednesday, May 31st. - Exams will be given the day after school is out - Friday, June 16th. Exam times will be announced. - The Guidance Office will notify students of the results by Tuesday, June 20th. Directions for Students: - Get the application to Test Out of a Course from the SHS Guidance Office. Office hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. - Complete the top section and sign the application. - Ask parent/guardian to sign the application. - Return the application to the SHS Guidance Office by Friday, May 26th, at 12:00 noon.

A big shout out to our staff and students! With the great fundraising efforts of our ESL department and the generosity of our staff and students, SHS was able to raise $1,609 for Relay for Life! Super job everyone!!

FYI... There will be a meeting for the parents of all girls in grades 8-11 that plan to participate in volleyball next year on Tuesday, May 9 at 7:00 in the high school cafeteria annex.
