On May 7, the Valley presented $7,400 in scholarship money and framed scholarship certificates to 14 highly deserving young students at a dinner ceremony featuring entertainment by the Ron Retzer Trio. Scholarship winners received either the local Valley of Steubenville award or the Leon Abbott Scholarship from Supreme Council. The Feast of the Paschal Lamb will be portrayed on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3:00 pm. THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. The beautiful and meaningful service portrays scenes from the life of Christ with magnificent degree work by the officers of the Rose Croix. In addition, you will hear the Scottish Rite Choir, and witness beautiful living tableaus in full costume. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend!

The Valley of Steubenville sadly notes the passing of Illustrious John N. Calhoun, 33° on February 21, 2017. A Masonic Service will be held at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. Worthington OH Saturday February 25, 2017 at 1:30pm, a funeral service will directly follow at 2pm. Ill. Brother Calhoun had a long and distinguished Masonic career. He was a 3 time Past Master of Wellsville #180. Active in the York Rite, Eastern Star, Demolay, and Grand Chapter, Brother Calhoun will be well remembered thoughout our Masonic Brotherhood. In Scottish Rite, Ill. Brother Calhoun was a distinguished ritualist. His work in many of our degrees will always be highly regarded. He was Thrice Potent Master in 2001, Most Wise Master in 2003, received the Valley Service Award in 2003 and was coronated a 33rd Degree Mason in 2005 in Grand Rapids. A 32nd Degree Ceremony will be held at the Masonic Temple in Steubenville on Saturday, February 18 to confer the 32nd Degree on our newest AASR brothers who joined us at the 6 Valley Degree Day. Ill. Edsel Emery, 33°, CIC will be conferring the Degree. Representatives from each of the 4 bodies of the Rite will be in attendance. This event is FREE OF CHARGE to all 32nd Degree Masons. Coffee and donuts at 10 am. A light lunch will be served at the conclusion of the ceremony. Dress is coat and tie.

The Valley of Steubenville is searching for some new voices to join our choir! If you or your spouse would like to sing in the choir for the Feast of Paschal Lamb, let us know! There will be 3 or 4 rehearsals and the performance is Palm Sunday (April 9). The choir is under the directorship of Brother Anthony Violi, MSA.

Phil Elliott, 33° 11° (Cleveland) 10:30 am 7° (Cambridge) 11:30 am 16° (Steubenville) 12:30 pm LUNCH Reservation & Ticket required 1:30 pm 8° (Youngstown) 2:20 pm 19° (Canton) 3:10 pm 5° (Akron) 4:00 pm Closing by Ill. Richard Heldman, 33° Steubenville's bus will leave the Temple at 5:30 am. with pickup stops at Giant Eagle in Calcutta and Shale Restaurant in Lisbon. We will stop for dinner on the way home. Passports will be stamped by all Valleys, so it's a great opportunity to get stamps from other Valleys! Dress is coat and tie. Nametags. Jewels and hats may be worn, but no VSA hats, please (they are a local award). If you do not have a nametag and want one, please contact Wayne at the Valley office or Ill. Edsel Emery directly.

SIX VALLEYS...SIX DEGREES! Bring your passport... Degrees to be portrayed are: 5th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 16th and 19th. Expected attendance should be in the 400 to 500 range! The Valley of Steubenville will be providing a bus to Cleveland on Saturday, January 28, 2017 for the 6 Valley Degree Day. Cost per person will be $25.00 for the bus and $10.00 for the lunch. This should be a fun filled day, so please plan to attend! Get your reservation in by January 13, 2017. We will be leaving the Steubenville Masonic Temple at 5:30 a.m. We will make stops at the Calcutta WalMart and the Shale Restaurant in Lisbon on the way. We will depart Cleveland for home around 5:00 p.m. with a stop on the way for dinner.
