The American Red Cross is being very diligent in making drives a safe as possible, and these are the new guidelines in place to make that possible. Many of you may be aware of or have seen the recent reviews about the Mahler Ballroom and the Grandview High School Senior Prom. We wanted to take a moment and address the situation with sincerity. It was never our intentions to deliberately deny students of their money or prom experience. We had a contract with the High School and were under the impression from communications we had with the High School administration, that they were going to reschedule the event. We were not aware that the funds put down were from the students themselves and not the school. After speaking in length with the school and getting a better understanding of the situation, we will be refunding the High School the $2,000.00 deposit put down to be returned to the students. Below you will see a letter from the High School administration explaining the Mahler Ballroom’s position. We want to make clear that had we known they did not want to reschedule, and the deposit was funds raised by the students, we would have refunded the money long ago. I hope this brings clarity and understanding for everyone and that the most important thing in any situation is communication. We congratulate the class of 2020 and wish them all nothing but the absolute best in their upcoming endeavors! Cheers to new beginnings!
