The Chorale allows its member to learn and enhance their musical skill, while providing quality musical entertainment to the citizens of our community. The Chorale seeks to enhance the cultural life of the community by offering a wide range of choral music and opportunities for singing and fellowship. The ACO Chorale is a volunteer choir comprised of Northwest Arkansas finest vocal talent. Auditions will be held on January 22 & 23, 2018 from 7-9pm at ACO for Driving Miss Daisy. Driving Miss Daisy scripts are available for pick-up in advance of auditions at ACO. No acting experience necessary. Those who wish to audition will complete audition forms and cold reading scenes from the play. Driving Miss Daisy performances will be held March 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, & 18. Cast of Characters: Daisy Werthan, a widow (age range 50's to 70's) Hoke Coleburn, her chauffeur (age range 40's to 60's) Boolie Werthan, her son (age range 30's to 50's) Driving Miss Daisy takes place in the Deep South, 1948 just before the Civil Rights movement. Daisy Werthan, a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow, has recently totaled her car and is informed by her son, Boolie, that she must rely on the services of a chauffeur. Boolie hires a thoughtful, unemployed black man, Hoke. Daisy regards him with disdain. Hoke is unimpressed with her patronizing tone and apparent prejudice. In this time-lapse play covering 25 years, the unlikely pair discovers they have more in common than they thought. Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry, won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize. The Arts Center of the Ozarks is pleased to present this endearing play, directed by Evan Crawford, to the Northwest Arkansas community in March 2018.
This January ACO will feature two installations. Lasting Impressions will be exhibited in the lower gallery and It’s Time to Adress’er Drawers will be exhibited in the upper gallery. Both installations will be free and open to the public. The Art Reception will be held January 19th from 6 to 8pm.
