"Celebration Barn Theater offers a wonderful opportunity for folks to be held in the green of Nature, to sleep and eat together, to discuss the day's work in an informal way, and to be set apart from their lives." "The group I was teaching was able to ingest and absorb more material in a deeper way, with more joy, than I ever had done previously in urban, day-only situations. We went deeper and further! That's why I support the Barn!" - Merry Conway, Performer, Teacher & Coach Help preserve this creative oasis: Donate Today! http://www.CelebrationBarn.com/donate

Don't miss the premiere of Karen's entertaining and provocative look at the dire necessity of arts in education. In this moving one-woman show, Karen Montanaro deftly weaves flourishes of mime and dance to create a powerful, impassioned plea for the arts in education. In recounting her own story and experiences, she demonstrates the power of the arts to make us want to excel at –not just the arts– but everything in our lives. This performance has been created with grant support from the Maine Arts Commission. Karen is a solo performer, an award-winning choreographer, and the innovator of "mimedance" (the fusion of two classical art forms). For more than a decade, Karen toured and taught internationally with mime master and founder of Celebration Barn, Tony Montanaro. Karen studied ballet at the Cantarella School of Dance, the Ram Island Dance Center and on scholarship with the Joffrey Ballet School. She danced professionally with the Ohio Ballet and the Darmstadt Opera Ballet in Germany and danced principal roles with the Portland Ballet Company. For the past 15 years, in addition to touring the world with her one-woman show, Tanzspiel, Karen has been a teaching artist, offering residencies in movement, mime and dance in public and private schools throughout the United States.
